Mies van der Rohe, Eero Saarinen and Harry Bertoia are just three of the luminaries whose designs Knoll Studio manufacture in both the USA and Italy. Ranges for the home and office are available through Tonic.

Based in Germany, ClassiCon is a company synonymous with contemporary European design, representing Konsantin Grcic, Norway Says and Design ForUse, as well as the eponymous mid-century designers Eileen Gray and Eckhart Muthesius.

One of Spain’s most avant garde design houses, Andreu World was founded by Francisco Andreu Marti in 1955. Manufacturers of the famous Smile Chair by Marcello Ziliani, they now own manufacturing plants across Europe and the United States.

Jielde is the French company known around the world for the iconic study lamp Jean- Louis Domecq designed in 1940. Tonic is pleased to bring you the original versions of this industrial design classic, as well as its many recently introduced variants.

The Gregor Jenkin Studio has been globally celebrated as one of our country’s most innovative creative forces. Tonic is proud to be their official local agent, carrying a full range of the Cape and van der Stel series of furniture, as well as special-edition releases.

Normann Copenhagen

Famous for pieces that feature the unconventional application of familiar materials,Scandinavian collective Normann Copenhagen flies the flag for Danish design in South Africa at Tonic, with classics like Herbert Krenchel’s 1953 ‘Krenit Bowls’.



GUBI



The Danish studio Gubi is a family business that reinterprets the warmth of classic mid­‐century forms in ultra‐modern modes of production. Now showing at Tonic is their collection of lamps, seating and shelving solutions by Greta Grossman.



Artek



Founded in 1935 by Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils­‐Gustav Hahl, Artek (from ‘Art’ and ‘Technology’) is often regarded as the Finnish version of the Bauhaus. Tonic is now stocking selected pieces of furniture and lighting by Aalto himself.





Nearly a century ago, Lucian Ercolani developed an innovative method for steam‐bending rare timbers for the art of furniture making. Now famous throughout the world, Tonic is thrilled  to introduce several of Ercolani’s original designs to South Africa for the first time.
