It seems fitting that the first retail project from Studio Luca Guadagnino is the interior of an Aesop store. Situated in the historic center of Rome (in Piazza di San Lorenzo), the latest Aesop store is a nod to the ancient city. In the words of Guadagnino; “In our conversations we became captivated by the idea of a lost Roma, the fifties, the juxtapositions between the city’s ancient buildings and the surrounding countryside”. The patterned travertine floor reflects the design of the floor in the historic San Lorenzo church nearby and blocks of straw used as ceiling cladding was inspired by the early settlements on the Pontine Marshlands.
