“Austin” by Elsworth Kelly

February 23, 2018

“Austin”, the temple for light, was recently opened on the campus of the University of Texas. The structure was one of the last works of artist Elsworth Kelly, and also, the only architectural project to be envisioned and designed by the artist. Two months before his death in December 2015, construction of “Austin” started. Kelly was involved with all choices made during the project making it a true reflection of the artists vision for the structure and space. Stripping down shape and colour to it’s core, the space allows light and colour to define the space, like walking within one of Kelly’s artworks.
