Jieldé

October 20, 2017

In the 1940’s craftsman and workshop manager, Jean Louis Domecq, was struggling to find adequate lighting for his workshop. Domecq started sketching and developing a robust, strong and adjustable lamp that in 1961 became known as the ‘Standard’ lamp used as task light throughout the country. In 1987 the Loft collection was realised, with the Signal collection to follow in 2006. The name Jieldé was derived from the designer’s initials “J”, “L’” and “D” giving the lamp a personal stamp. These known and valued decorative task lights are still manufactured by hand in Lyon, France and sealed with the Jieldé name. Tonic is proud to be the agent for Jieldé in South Africa, for more information please contact our showroom.
