TONIC was fortunate to take part in the 100% Design London Expo at Earls Court last week. We were invited to represent South Africa as designers at the South African Pavilion in the International Hub of the expo. Even more exciting was experiencing the city in full Design Week mode. There was an endless supply of inspiration, and so much good stuff going on that it was difficult to choose where to go. Here’s a round up of some of the best things we spotted…
1. Chisel and Mouse - Architecture for the home
Chisel & Mouse architectural model sculptures. Handmade in Britain from plaster.
3. A Place Called Home – an installation in Trafalgar square featuring homes created by Jasper Morrison, Ilse Crawford, Raw Edges and Patternity.
“Jasper Morrison has created and amusing home based on a pigeon fancier’s house, set amongst the minimal designs of his furniture, ‘because who else would choose to live in the middle of Trafalgar Square?’ ”
We were lucky enough to spot Jasper Morrison in person!
4. Pinch at 100% Design
Beautiful handmade British Furniture
5. H Furniture at Designjunction
H Furniture’s new Loom collection – the seat is woven out of cord. Seriously comfortable and very pretty.
6. A variety of stands from TENT
