Absence of Water by Gigi Cifali

November 21, 2016

Absence of Water is a photographic project by Milan and London based photographer Gigi Cifali. Commenting on the importance of water to man’s survival as well as a symbol of wealth. Seen as a symbol of wealth during Victorian times numerous pools were built in the United Kingdom, but as taste and living conditions shifted leading to a drop of attendance they became increasingly uneconomical to maintain and fell into conditions of ruin. The spaces now empty and abandoned has a clean simplicity to it asking the viewer to refer to a past time when these spaces were inhabited by people. (All images via: www.gigicifali.com)
