Celebrated Burundian artist Serge Alain Nitegeka’s sculptures has been described as ‘contained disruption’. In ‘Black Passage Nitegeka explores the invisible political dimension of architectural space. The body that moves within the confines of the physical ‘barriers’ set creates an interesting dialogue between the bodies movement within predetermined structures. This landscape of strong lines and planes of colour leads to an experience where the confines of the invisible element of space leads to a dialogue that investigates and redefine the embodiment of space.
