Memphis – Part 2: Studio Toogood

January 31, 2012

“The Hatch” by Studio Toogood.

The project was an eclectic combination of memphis inspired patterns, and 20th century artists, such as

David Hockney’s ripples, Keith Haring’s comic strip squiggles and Sol leWitt’s graph paper checks.

The use of scale and materials, adds to the graphic playfulness of the space. The glossy surfaces combined with graphic patterns reminds one of big ‘building blocks’ that will lead to interaction with the objects to create an accessibility to contemporary art and design.
