Sou Fujimoto’s Serpentine Gallery Pavilion

June 07, 2013

Sou Fujimoto, the youngest person to accept the invitation to design the yearly temporary structure, has created an airy geometric structure that invites people to interact with it. Constructed from 20mm steel tubes the white mass of lines creates a semi transparent cloud like structure that is effectively lit at night. “I tried to create something – of course really artificial – but nicely melding together with these surroundings, to create a nice mixture of nature and architecture,” said the multi awardwinning Japanese architect at a news conference this week. The pavillion will be on view until October 20th.
